There were 14 of us who met on Wednesday, February 15th, in the Parlor. Judy Haile prepared cookies, chocolate covered strawberries and coffee for us. President, Anne Dixon presided with announcements and upcoming events and distributed the new officers list to all present. Anne also read from the January 2017 Hope cottage Newsletter which introduced the new Child Advocate, Heather. Some of the ideas Heather is working on include a small garden , bowling, swimming, movies, crafting, support group, back yard camping, cooking classes and several hand made sensory items for our kid's room. Our Day Circle has supported HOPE COTTAGE in the past and we plan to continue to support them. In 2016 Hope Cottage assisted 76 women and 62 children fleeing from Domestic Violence. Their Hotline is 501-278-4673.
The HOPE RESTORED resale shop on 1211 East Race St. in Searcy is looking for volunteers. They are open Tuesday - Saturday, 10:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. you may call 501-368-9722. You may also drop off gently used clothing, household goods, dishes, lamps, sheets, etc. for resale. On Senior Citizen's Day, the 15th of each month, Senior Citizens receive 30% off their entire purchase.
Rose Gay presented our devotional on "God's Love and John 3:16" andhanded everyone a chocolate red rose.
The United Methodist women from our NE District will meet for the "Spring Day Apart" on Saturday, April 8th, in Heber Springs.
Martha Crigger presented our program on the Global Mission that Methodist Women support and stated that as a community of women we are able to undergird more ministries together that we could ever support alone. Our goal for 2017 is to raise $750.00 to send to our district. This money helps to build hospitals, schools, libraries nationally and internationally. She further stated," Every mission dollar has a story and Lord, help us in our daily living to Live simply, so that others may simply live." Money was collected at that time. I do not have a total amount at this time.
We all recited the official mission statement of United Methodist Women:
United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Our next meeting will be MARCH 6th at 10:00 a.m. with Judy Hart doing the refreshments and presenting our program. All women who worship at St. Paul UMC are invited to attend and participate in this DAY CIRCLE of women.
